When the cold sets in, most of us stop reaching for lawn and start looking at velvet. And for good reason. A velvet suit keeps you warm, looks rich, and works for a wedding as easily as a family dinner.
But velvet is not all the same. Here is what we tell our customers before they order.
1. Feel the fabric, or ask for a close photo
Good velvet feels soft and thick, and the pile lies flat and even. If it looks patchy or thin in the pictures, ask for a close-up before you pay.
2. Pick a colour you will actually wear
Deep shades like maroon, olive green and zinc look beautiful and hide marks well. Lighter shades like baby pink and cream look lovely too, but need a little more care.
3. Check what is in the set
Some velvet suits come as 2 pieces and some as 3 pieces. Always check whether the dupatta is included so there are no surprises when the parcel arrives.
4. Think about the occasion
Plain velvet suits are great for daily winter wear. If you want something for a function, look for a suit with embroidery or a shawl.
5. Take care of it
Dry clean your velvet suit, or wash it gently by hand in cold water. Never wring it, and never iron it directly. Use steam instead.
A good velvet suit can stay in your wardrobe for many winters. If you are not sure which one suits you, message us and we will help you choose.
